What happens at a routine gynecological check
4 min read
If you have been putting off a gynecology visit, knowing what to expect makes it easier. Here is the usual sequence.

The consultation
A visit begins with a conversation about your cycles, symptoms and medical history. Nothing is examined or tested without explanation and consent.
Examination and tests
Examination is conducted with privacy. Investigations are advised only when they will help clarify a diagnosis or guide treatment, and screening is discussed according to your age and history.
Questions worth asking
- Is my cycle pattern normal for me?
- Do I need any screening at my age?
- Are my current medicines suitable long term?
- What symptoms should prompt me to return?
