Perimenopause and menopause

Perimenopause is the hormonal transition leading to the final period; menopause is confirmed after twelve consecutive months without a period. Symptoms often begin years before periods stop.

Symptoms that can be addressed

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Low mood and irritability
  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort
  • Urinary symptoms

One important warning sign

Any bleeding after menopause should be evaluated promptly, even if it happens only once and is light.
